This is on a 4.7L 07 High Output Dakota. The connector does not show up on the diagrams. It attaches towards the back on the same wire harness as the driver side fuel injectors and coils. I am getting a "no link" error when running a code reader and I think it is because this is not connected.
I used a better scanner and it showed "no link". I tested the fuses and non of them look blown. What do you think the problem is?
That is how I found it. I don't remember disconnecting it from anywhere. I have not detached the black part from the grey part. I am not sure that it connects anywhere and I am not sure what it's purpose is.
I am getting a "no link" error and the truck wont start. the battery is good, fuses are good, starter gets power, and the starter works outside the truck. I was thinking maybe the rogue connector had something to do with it.
The connector is most likely to some part which connects to something not applicable to your vehicle so thats why its shunted off. I They make wire looms to fit as many type vehicles so it may even be some export vehicle we never see in the States. As for your situation with the scanner not connecting.you need to validate this with using another scanner to double check. You can go to a autozone and they will scan for free....just tell them you got a check engine lite and want to know what it is so you can buy their recommended parts...Then decide that maybe you will sell it...cuz of too many problems as an excuse...but then you will see if their scanner will connect...then you have your answer.. if theirs does not connect..you have to check to see if a fuse is blown or some wire(s) are not connecting to your ECM. Your going to have to check some wiring diagrams online for ECm to OBD2 port
By the way whats the procedure to display a image on the internet like a wiring diagram on this forum ? I can do it on other forums but which icon do I choose ? Thx
I take a snip it and then paste it into the text area. Make sure the pic is not too big
What is that black connector that is plugged into the connector your trying to think is suppose to plug into something. If that is the way you found it it is some kind of shunt to connect the pins to complete a circuit. Did you check the plug ins to see what pins connect going in and back out ?
Check for blown fuses. I think fuse #14 is your data link connection fuse.

THANKS for the info I requested - Happy New Years as well!
All of the fuses showed 000 which means no current. PCM B+ had a .77 current running through it. I tested it with the battery connected and the truck off
