Hi guys and or Scottie! This has been a recent sound in my 2014 Toyota Camry SE. 105,000 miles. It normally happens around 20-30mph and the engine has this grinding noise and gets louder right before it shifts. Once it shifts the sound goes away. It doesn’t have that problem in the higher gears. I did a transmission service and coolant service after 56,000 miles. Any help is needed because I have no idea what it could be
Well, if it only makes in that one gear I'd say you have a problem inside the transmission. See my video finding the source of car noises. You have any noise detecting machine like that and you can buy a wired version for about 70 bucks on Amazon, you hook it up to different parts of the car and if you find the noises coming from the transmission then yes the transmission is starting to break Down early. That's the only thing that's logical but of course look for possible broken drive shaft joints where the grease is leaked out and anything else on the drivetrain
