2011 Chevrolet Equinox, 2.4l I4 with 165,000 miles
When my friend starts their Equinox, it makes a grinding noise while braking until the ABS and Traction lights illuminate, and then the grinding goes away. Any idea what it could be?

Did they check the brakes?
