Groaning Differential

Hey Scotty, I have a 92 Ramcharger with a groaning rear end.  Pretty sure it's the LSD (again).  I've added friction modifier, which works for a while then the groaning returns.  Does friction modifier "wear out" and require replenishment, or do I have something more serious going on?

By the way, watched one of your videos and recognized <deleted> Blvd!  Had no idea we were neighbors.  If you've seen a sun-baked gray Ramcharger around then that's my daily driver.

Thanks,

RC

The fluid should last at least 30, if not 60,000 miles, unless you are doing a lot of towing.  So I would suspect it’s the hardware.  A 30 year old limited slip is probably due for a rebuild.

(And please Scotty, answer this in your video.  A can’t wait to see the graphic to go with a “groaning rear end” 🤣)

When is the last time that the lube in the differential was completely changed?

Probably not a good idea to announce people's private residences publicly on the internet for 1000's of bots to collect.

Since you live so close to Scotty you might as well ask if he'll look at your car. Details in the FAQ.
