I was reading here:
https://jalopnik.com/california-drivers-may-have-been-filling-up-with-bad-ga-1851230716 (most interesting)
https://www.fox13news.com/news/human-error-leads-to-gas-contamination-at-bay-area-stations ( a most likely very infrequent human error)
https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/camden-contaminated-gas-drivers-stranded/5051514/ (another infrequent and promptly-resolved extreme situation)
I've also heard of old and degraded underground gas-tanks at stations leaking rain-water into the gas-supply after clean fuel is delivered to stations.
I bet shady contaminated gas and neglected underground gas-tanks at stations have probably happened in a number of states.
How would one know they have bad gas?
How frequent is bad-gas at a station?

I think you can get test kits

never happened to me in my life
I got bad gas once. I noticed it first thing in the morning. My Tundra had trouble climbing out of my uphill driveway. I thought I needed spark plugs so I changed them. But no improvement. I confirmed bad gas about 300 miles later when I got a fresh tank and my truck ran like new again.
I never have
Got bad gas at a Marathon (supposed to be to be top tier) last year. Ran rough and idled rough after. Ran a few tanks of Shell and it cleared up. Rather reluctant to purchase Marathon gas since.
tell him thanks. 🙂
