1996 Dakota Headlight/dashboard problems

Hello everyone, got kind of a debacle here. I'll try my best to explain since google doesn't give me the answers I need:

I have an old 1996 Dodge dakota with 128000 mi with an auto transmission, and the other day when I started it I instinctively turned on my headlights. However, this time suddenly my dashboard went wonky. All the gauges on my dashboard just went out, rpm to zero, fuel to empty, etc. The only things that come on the dashboard is the left and right signal and hi beams, even though none of those are on. I then get out and check to see if the headlights are on, which they are. Since then this does not happen every time, but it does pick a random time to give me the weird nonsense. I'm thinking maybe a short or fuse? Not sure, I'm not TOO experienced with car stuff at my young age. Would love to hear ideas or if someone had a similar problem and found out a solution, thanks in advance.

Make sure your dash is tight in place.

Start with the all grounding wires, where they connect to the metal. Usually there is several under the dashboard.

If that does not help, then try to wiggle wires under dash when it goes wonky, and pay attention thicker +feed wires usually red color.
