Hi. I have a 2004 h2 hummer. While im driving and use my breaks, the vehicle goes obruptly to the right and sometimes to the left. It scares the crap out of me. It has oversize tires and the breakpads and rotors been replaced a year ago. I took it to the first mechanic shop without him test driving it and said its my break pads and u gonna need to replace the rotors. Ok...The second mechanic shop test drove it and showed me that i need a new power steering gearbox. Its leaking. . im gonna need front stabalizing bar w/heavy duty ranchero shock etc... Inner/outer tie rod etc... Anyway, with parts n labor = 1450.00... I asked him if i purchase my own brand new parts? Will it be cheaper? Well he said not really cause the labor will be much more. So u telling me if the mech. purchases the parts the labor will be less. Oh yeah n the warranty will be for 30 days. Am i getting ripped off? Desperate and frustrated consumer...Im a retired army vet who is on a limited budget. {black}:screaming: HELP..... TY...
The second mechanic is lying. There is no difference in the labor if it's their parts or your parts, they just don't want to lose the mark up they take when they buy wholesale and charge you retail. I would find another, honest mechanic who wants your business and will work with you, not against you. And thank you very much for your service. I really appreciate it.
