Scotty, I love your entertaining and very informative channel.  I would like your advise on purchasing my first sports car.  I am looking at the Supra (BMW 6 cylinder manual transmission) and the GR 86 also manuel, both are 2023.  I’m not set on either so if you have a better recommendation I am open to a different vehicle.  Thanks for sharing your expertise with us mere mortals. If I lived near you I would definitely be bringing my vehicles to you for your mechanical genius.  Thanks again.

As you probably know, the Supra is a BMW under its skin. Amazing vehicle. And probably BMW’s most reliable engine in two decades.

At the same time, BMW is known for its high maintenance and repair costs. So even though it is labeled a Toyota, it really is a BMW through and through.

The GR86 is also an amazing vehicle, but it is a Subaru underneath, a Subaru BRZ. Potentially less cost to maintain. I test drove a BRZ, and it was fun. The clutch took some getting used to.

Many folks here like the Mazda Miata MX5. Scotty does too. So that may be something to consider.

I personally like how Honda does things. So my personal choices would either be an Integra Type S. Or the Civic Type R. Both with manual transmissions. Those may be a bit pricey though. So the Integra A spec with manual transmission, and the Civic Si with manual transmission may be good alternatives.
