Lunatic driver

Gone through two Camry SE 2008 and 2014 got about 125,,000 miles each before having serious issues (transmission and squeaks and rattling in body). Wife says I still drive like a lunatic and was a police officer 20 yrs ago. What modern car would you suggest that would hold up to my maniac driving?? Never wreck and no tickets. Hard on breaks, jack rabbit starts, lots of highway driving at 70-80mph.

big guy in a teenage car won’t work

Tint your windows so noone sees!

Okay seriously, Id start by recommending a manual, they don't burn out as fast like an automatic when ragged on. Id avoid CVT's.

It'll be hard to find a non turbo car these days, you'd want something NA & with some power, so a V6 or V8.

You need something that's built to be driven rough.

Honda motors are notorious for taking abuse, but their transmissions, not so sure. Plus I think all their cars are turbo 4cyls these days also.

Dont touch a Kia

Dont touch anything German car unless you want to sell it in a few years and lose 80% of its value.

Id reconsider the new WRX as an option. I dont think it has as much of a young racer vibe as the older ones, as long as you dont lower it/ tint/ fart can it. They increased the engine displacement allowing it to make good power at lower boost levels (more longevity). Subaru has done turbo boxers for a long time, and works with Toyota now too. Their turbo motors aren't like the American ones.

If youre really against it, there's not much else. Again you need something that's built to handle the way you drive. I'm assuming mustangs & camaros aren't the most comfortable. If youre burning out Camrys then theres not much hope otherwise.

I rag on my WRX hard, its going strong. & when it goes, hey I had fun with it, and Ill put a built motor in next. That's my theory.

Welcome new member.  Sounds like you’d be right at home in a WRX.  That’s what they are made for.  I had one for a few years and it was a blast on mountain roads (but a chore in traffic).  Considering how they drive, they are very reliable and easy for DIY maintenance.

Appreciate no turbo, something solid and I am 53 yrs old and 350lbs. So big guy in a teenage car won’t work. Thanks

So maybe Camry XSE or TRD then?

Was thinking of old crown vic but more leaning to a charger police package but not sure on the quality. Probably dodge crap

Those crown vics were great, Id just be concerned about the age & history of one. If you can find one that's in good shape and isnt expensive that can be a good option. Those 4.6's were great, but again, minimum 16 years old on them. I agree on your Dodge crap statement.

If you want something that can take a beating, but still keep ticking. Granted they do have turbos. Hard to find cars without turbos these days.

My personal choices would either be an Integra Type S. Or the Civic Type R. Both with manual transmissions. Those may be a bit pricey though. So the Integra A spec with manual transmission, and the Civic Si with manual transmission may be good alternatives.
