That's interesting, in the States, we have black pumps for gas and a completely separate nozzle that's green for diesel.
there doesn't seem to be a rule or standard, so it's pretty inconsistent. I've seen green, black, yellow ....
The first giveaway should be the smell.
I first noticed when I picked up the pump that the diesel fuel flasher and the audible beep came on that I was getting ready to pump diesel. I put it right back in place and selected regular gas. I guess he was completely zoned out, or something. I know that diesel fuel pumps aren't designed to be compatible with a gasoline tank, but you can kinda force it, I think.
take a sample of what's in the tank. Make sure it's not diesel.
Thanks.. it was at a BP gas station. They was only one pump handle. That was black so im thinking it was only gas there but haven't got the chance to go back to check to make sure
black is diesel at many of the stations I've been to. Call them up or smell the fuel

I was getting ready to put diesel in my tank a few weeks ago, my mind was preoccupied, I caught it as I was getting ready to put the nozzle in the tank. Luckily the two tank styles are not compatible.
Yes it got me..it was diesel I just went to check .. one nozzle pump gas station with 12 pumps and 11 ans 12 are diesel and I went and got caught in the late hours 😔 😟.. so I'll have to drop the tank completely?

Since you ran your engine on the stuff at a minimum you need to flush out the entire fuel system. The worse case is having to rebuild or replace the engine.

Interesting, I assumed diesel fuel in a gas engine would just stall the engine and cause headaches for the unfortunate driver of said car. I didn't know you might need to replace the engine.
That appears to be the worst case possibility. Hopefully cleaning out the fuel system will suffice in this instance.

one way or another, you'll have to get those 4 gallons or however much out of the tank. I don't think the diesel that's already in the engine will hurt anything, but the engine will run roughly until it all gets flushed through. The catalytic converter won't like it either. You'll probably want to use some sort of pour-in fuel system cleaner. Search the internet, as I'm sure you're not the first person to have done this.
Your right P0420 Code: Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1) came up I got it running good with no more smoke. But the cat code came. I put in heet treatment but don't seems it works will see if I find a better cleaner
