Hello!
Help needed! We are in Katy, TX.
We have 2015 Ford Edge Titanium V6. Owned car for over 3 years. 35,000miles. Lightly used by my wife! Car recently decides not to start randomly. Sometimes getting out locking then unlocking car works or used to! {black}:scared:
Sometimes lifting the hood and checking fuse box actually worked!
Used to not start once every 6 months, now it’s once a week!
we plugged in basic OB2 (Torque)…no faults.
I bought and swapped out new relays for starter circuit. {black} Made no difference.
I checked ground wire and it looks fine, no corrosion and well attached.
My wife thought car always decided not to start same day she got a full tank of gas…car decided to disprove this theory last weekend with half a tank and no visit to gas station.
when car has this fault and will not start the engine does not turn over…it pretends to get ready to start and fuel pump primes etc but car just does not start (engine never turns). Sometime it takes few minutes or hours to start as we go through sequence above …seems to depend how car feels! {black}:idontknow:
Any advise or things to check will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
GJ
You can test the starter itself and give it a good whack with a 2x4, a hammer or something similar as someone is attempting to start the car. If it starts, then the starter needs to be replaced. I would suspect that or possibly the ignition switch if you replaced the starter relay with a Motorcraft part and not some aftermarket knock-off.
many thanks Justin, going to give this a go.
