Should I buy a Mazda6 or Accord

i'm thinking about buying a 2007 mazda 6 with a 2.0L 147hp and 5 speed tiptronic automatic

or a 2007 honda accord eu 2.0 155 hp and speed tiptronic automatic as well.

from all the consumer reviews i read i see that the mazda is very reliable as well as the honda, the honda's engine is a little stronger, but the prices are much higher on the honda, and i wonder if it's mainly image and demand, or are there more reasons for it?

one of the main concerns about the 6 is that it feels cheap plastic interior... but i dont care about that, i want a powerful fun to drive car that will be reliable, and that is the main concern, if im getting the 6 it's the facelift model that the fixed most of the early problems mostely oil consumption that no longer exists in the facelift model.

translated to dollars the accord will cost about 7,700 dollars and the 6 will cost about 3700 (not from the us, from EU).

what do you think objectively about the mazda?

I would go for the Accord. The older Mazdas are not that good. Make sure you have the car checked by your mechanic before you buy it

do you know about any special problems in these models? as far as i checked consumers report it being very reliable (2.0 engine, 5 speed auto), i know the pre-facelift model consumed oil to some extent.

The 2007 model seems to be the last model which has oil consumption issue. To be on safe side, look for other cars.

you're saying the accord will give better peace of mind?
quite sad actually i really like the 6, but mostly considered it because it's cheap, if it would cost the same as the accord i had no second thoughts though

So look for other cars.

Of the two, the Accord is the safer bet. It is a little more expensive because it is a better built vehicle.

If you want reliability and driving experience you should choose a manual transmission

Sadly not an option

As @mod_man mentioned, you get what you pay for..

Have you test driven them both already? How fun to drive are they?

yes i drove them both, no doubt the mazda handles better and rides stiffer, i like it.
i dont feel too much of a difference in the 2.0L engines, even that the accord has a little more power on paper

Since they’re both 14 yr old vehicles, have the Mazda 6 thoroughly inspected by a professional mechanic, before purchase. Do you know if the transmission is made by Mazda or Aisin?

i'm not sure, it's a 5 speed automatic, my guess would be jatco or ford made

Unlikely.
The facelifted 6 has a 5 speed gearbox

I know. The 5 speed is designed based on the above 4 speed transmission, according to this - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Mazda_transmissions
