Hey Scotty and the community.

I'm replacing my timing chain and guides on my 1985 500sel the Allen bolts for the alternator bracket are rounded and stuck its a very tight spot that I can't hammer in the stripped head. Very tight for vice grips. Any tool you know i can use ?.

Just try to get a torch on them to help loosen them up and get the vise grips on them.

Vice grips won't fit its a very tight area.

If it's that tight, it sounds like you're going to have to remove some other items, ie, fan shroud, radiator, etc, to get proper access to the area.  When done, I'd replace the allen head bolts with hex bolts for future ease of maintenance.
