Hi Scotty

i have a 2008 toyota sienna le fwd with a 3.5 litre v6 engine

In the morning when i start the car a couple lights come on and off. It does this while driving too. When it happens while driving the car jerks. The lights that come on are VSC, TRAC OFF, maintenance required, abs light (yellow) and parking brake). I hooked up a scan tool and it didn't give me any codes.
Please help me fix this. Thank you

If your scan tool is a basic one, and only records OBD II codes, there's lots of information missing. For example, on my Blue Driver, there's both a "Live Data" and Mode Six "Enhanced Diagnostics." (I have an 08 Camry. You should have the same available info on your vehicle).

"Live Data" might yield some interesting information, and I'm curious to see what Mode Six functions might be performing below standard limits. That data might add something to a diagnosis.

As MountainMan Joe sometimes says, load test the battery and the alternator. You may have one or both components at a marginal power production level, which means the electronics aren't getting enough juice to do their job, on startup (hence the Xmas tree lights).

This kind of thing (inadequate battery and/or charging) could also affect a transmission control module or solenoid,  or the transmission issue could be unrelated.

Scotty often says do the easiest and cheapest things, first. So, load test the battery and the alternator, first, before moving on to anything else.

It will require a better diagnostic tool to scan those systems.

Visit a good mechanic.
