I have a 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan SE automatic and I need to know what this metal piece is hanging down. It is still attached to the undercarriage and I’m unable to remove it by myself. The closest place where I can get help to take it off is 27 miles away. What can I safely zip tie this piece too in the interim to get it safely to a shop?
It looks like some kind of heat shield. Is that photo taken at the front or the back of the vehicle? Also you did not specify AWD or FWD. (There may be differences.)

What can I safely zip tie this piece too
plastic cables ties will melt.
Use bailing wire to attach it to something that doesn't move.
bad: exhaust pipe, axles, suspension, etc
good: body of the car, frame components, etc.
..... but it's going to rattle until it gets screw/bolt/rivet down.
