hey Scotty! 2018 F-150 XRT 5.0L 10 SPEED 60k for 42,000$ in Canada.
So I bought a 2018 F-150 with 60 thousand kilometers on it, after a week I could hear a subtle tick in the engine when idle, multiple people even asked me if it was a diesel. I also had a high pitch squeal coming from my tire on the driver side that you had to have the window down to hear. When cold started in the morning and taking my daughter to school it makes a Grinding noise when you let go of throttle and also when you accelerate the engine makes a chugging noise , has a loud metal on metal ping noise in the back end that makes entire intersection look at your truck like its gonna blow up, the truck is embarrassing to drive in to be honest. So I went to the dealer and managed to get a 2017 F-150 XLT Sport 5.0L with the 6 speed transmission and it runs like a dream , has power , rides smooth the difference is uncanny between 2nd generation engine and proven 6-speed. just thought I should share my experience and as scotty would say if you have a 10 speed transmission in your ford your stupid haha. calm down its a joke.
There is no such thing as a true 1/2 ton truck anymore. The best modern F150s are the 15-17s with the 2nd gen 5.0 and 6R80 6 speed. My 2015 is a great truck, Ford all but killed the 5.0 after 2017.
Smart move going to the 2017 model year with the more true and tried powertrain combo (2nd Gen 5.0L V8 with 6-speed AT). I never recommend to anyone to get an F-150 beyond 2017 model year when they switched to the 3rd Gen (unproven) 5.0L V8 and 10-speed AT. Model year 2021 just made things worse by introducing cylinder deactivation in the V8.
I wouldn't own any 1/2 ton pickup made after 2006.
