I am in the Philippines. I am stuck here because the world is nuts now as you know. I was wanted to buy a new car. I was looking at the Toyota wigo as it falls in my price range. I usually buy used but that is usually not a good option here the best I can see.. Automatic would be nice but manual is ok also.. I would love your thought on this car.
This is a Daihatsu Ayla and I live in the US and I don't know much about these cars other than they make the mini K trucks that are used all over Asia. I normally don't recommend buying new because you lose a lot of money doing so but if you think it's the best move I don't know the area or these kind of cars. The car only has a 1L engine in it which will be slow as possible and barely able to get out of its own way. And buying a used car should be easy anywhere in the civilized world. Just take it to a good mechanic you can trust before you buy it to have them check it out really good and let you know if its a good buy or not. Scotty recommends everyone do that no matter where you are in the world. This looks like a much better car https://www.philmotors.com/Honda-city-idsi-matic-78002 and I have the US version of this car and its the best car I've ever owned. Had it for 6+ years and never had one problem and just needed regular maintenance. AND it's a 1/3rd of the cost of that new wigo. I know a person that visits the Philippines and I could ask him but since he doesn't live there Idk how much if anything he would know. Hope that helps dude
It seems these cars are smaller than Yaris (and probably cheaper because of the price) and the Yaris is not that great. If you want to spend this much money, you better off buying a used corolla.
Having driven the Toyota Agya/Daihatsu Ayla, I would say you’re much better off with the Honda Brio in that category of micro mini cars. That Wigo will start rattling like a tin can before you reach 50,000kms. Also, I think the Honda Brio has better quality interiors.
If I were you, I’d buy a used Corolla or Civic or if you want a smaller vehicle, get a Jazz or a Yaris.
Even though it’s a Toyota, that Wigo just isn’t built well, and I personally feel safer in a Jazz/Yaris.
