Hey Scotty, I bought a 2004 Dodge Dakota 4.7L V8 4x4 with 174k miles. Had only 2 previous owners. I bought it for $5,000. I have heard bad things about this engine but seems to be running in great condition. Changed the oil and pulled spark plugs to check condition, everything looks good. What can you tell me about these trucks and Is it a good buy ?

The automatic transmission is a weak point. Have your mechanic checked the car?

My family had an 06 and it ran fine with no issues. They can run some time if taken care of. The problem with these vehicles is that they are gas hogs.
