hey Scotty I have a 2002 Ford Explorer4x4 XLS 5 speed manual transmission… 100k miles .. makes a clunking slipping noise when I make a U turn… what could it be???

Do you have it in 4WD mode?
Have you been servicing the drivetrain? (transmission, transfer case, axles, etc.)

That thing is 20 years old, check all driveline and suspension components for wear.
