Hey Scotty I have a 2010 Ford Mustang v6 4.0 it has 200,000 Miles on it but my problem is it cranks and stays crank while in park but as soon as I put it in drive it shuts off what’s the problem???? I have already replaced the fuel pump so can you please tell me what else can be the problem????
what could be the problem and I don’t have a scanner
The problem could be any of dozens (at least) of different things. If you are asking "What part do I replace?" there is no answer to that except in very obvious cases such as a leaking radiator.
Have you checked fuel pressure? You may have gotten a bum fuel pump, especially if it is aftermarket. You might try cleaning the throttle body and MAF sensor to see if that helps. However when the simple things don't work you need a deeper dive to diagnose the cause of the problem. There are troubleshooting tips in the FAQ and of course in Scotty's many videos.
You can't really expect to do much work a modern car without a scan tool. These days even cheap ones are able to display, record, and graph live data.
I have also replaced the throttle body the o2 sensors , the egr valve , the coil packs and spark plugs, the fuel pump and battery and starter and I have a new radiator system and transmission
As you can see the parts cannon approach doesn't generally work. Did you use OEM parts?
As I said you're going to need to do more in-depth troubleshooting if the simple stuff doesn't work.
No I didn’t use oem parts
That could be a big part of the problem. Always use OEM parts for critical components, or at least from the OEM supplier.
are you saying it idles fine but stalls once you put it in drive?
it could be alot of things, it should be evaluated by a mechanic with a high level scanner. Dont keep throwing parts at and guessing with your money
Yea it idles and then it just cuts off soon as I put it back in park it cranks up again and stays crunk then wen I go to put it in drive it shuts back off
use the term "stays running" instead of crunk. Crank refers to the engine when its trying to start/ in the start up process.
But either way, you should see a mechanic who can analyze the engine and transmission entirely. This issue could range from a bad MAF sensor to an internal issue with the transmission.
Did you replace the fuel filter with the pump? Have you scanned for codes and live data?
I’m getting the fuel filter today but if that doesn’t works then what could be the problem and I don’t have a scanner
