Hi there scotty, I have an 2008 HHR with 170,000 miles on it. I don't know if the fluid has been changed on the transmission but it has been shifting a bit more rough. It's nothing super noticeable but since I drive it everyday I knew something was a little off. I was wondering if I should just change the fluid and take it to a shop because I don't want to mess with the sealed transmission? Or is there anyway I could check it myself to see if I shouldn't change it and just baby it a whole lot until it dies?
Just baby the car and pray. You're lucky you could get that mileage out about of the car.

If you change it, most likely you will have transmission issue. You might try drain a quarter of the fluid and add some Lucas transmission additive. Besides that, nothing else.
