Hi Scotty. I have a 2016 vw jetta s, 62,000 miles. This past weekend the epc light came on while we were doing some errands around town.

I dropped the car off at the vw dealership in merrillville indiana. This is the 2nd time in a year its been to the shop, just a few months ago the throttle body return spring failed after having 55,000 miles on the car.

That repair was made at the dealership and since we've had no problems. The dealership called to let us know what this new issue is, and it turns out an engine wiring harness is causing the epc light to come on and off, and they can not pin point where the damage is on the harness. They want 1,600.00 for the repair.

My question is, would vw be reasonable in anyway for the damaged engine wire harness?

Not unless your warranty specifically covers wiring harness damage.  What is the cause of the damage?

The only warranty would be on the throttle body that was replaced around 6 months ago. Vw didn't say what the cause was, just that it's a failure in the engine wire harness.

It is surprising that the VW dealer can't find or won't tell you what the problem is before you have to cough up $1600.  It could be something as simple as a new brake switch.  I would take it to a good, independent mechanic for a full diagnosis.  Obviously, the warranty is worthless in this case.  No surprise there.

If vw removed and replaced the throttle body. Theres 2 sensors I believe that need to be unpluged and moved. Could those 2 sensors maybe have caused the problem?

Maybe, but there are about a dozen things that could be causing the problem.  Do an online search of WV epc light and you'll see all the reasons the light could be on.
