Hi Scotty I'm thinking about buying a 2015 Ford F150 six cylinders with 140 thousand miles. Should I buy it with that engine or not the type of work is not that heavy

Clarification: Are you asking about the naturally aspirated 3.5L V6 version?

Adding @USAFdozerpilot to the discussion.

Yes that one

Is it a eco boost or the 3.3 v6? 140k mi is getting into eh territory. If the price was right and the truck checked out ok and it had the 3.3l I might go for it.

Thanks for that.  And what about  a 2013 f150 5.0L?

I would go with the 2013/2014 Ford 5.0L. Solid engine along with the 6-speed automatic. In fact, that’s been my consistent recommendation on this forum - that after the Toyota Tundra, to get a 2011-2014 Ford F-150 with the 5.0 (previous generation F-150). 2013/2014 is the end of that generation and the most refined (bugs ironed out).  Model years 2015-2017 (new generation) with the 5.0L is fine too although it has more bells and whistles than previous generation, but don’t go for 2018-present (those had issues).

Scotty is not a fan of Ecoboost engines.

They did offer an NA V6 for 2015 model year. OP could be asking about that.

That V6 has a design flaw. The water pump is driven by timing chain. I would pass on that one as well.

Only the transverse mounted engines (in FWD applications) have that design flaw due to packaging constraints (per Ford). The RWD applications (like in the F-150 which have longitudinal mounted engines) have the water pump outside the engine.

I know that Scotty mentioned in one video that there is a year that he don't recommend but I don't remember I guess it was between 2014 and 2016 can someone help me out with that?
