Hi Scotty. Love your show! My friend has a 2014 nissan xterra and his transmission is shot i think. It worked for a while without reverse. But now it catches once in a while. I told him to change the transmission fluid and filter but he insistes that if he keeps on putting it thru the gears it will come out of it. I disagree and we have heated agreements about it. Who is right?

Sounds like the transmission is junk which is fairly rare on those. I’d check the fluid level and condition to eliminate any intermix possibility. And at the current state of missing a gear I’d say the time to flush it came and went a long time ago. It won’t save your friend now.
