Hi Scotty, We recently bought a 2021 rav4 prime xse, my question is should we keep the extended warranty on this car ? Been a plug in hybrid and first generation. The dealer asked 3500 for this warranty they are saing that this car is 80% computer stuff and only 20% mechanical. I appreciate your opinion. Thanks
If it was me, I'd take that $3500 and put it in a S&P 500 index ETF. In 5 or 10 years, when that RAV will need some serious maintenance (that isn't covered by the Toyota warranty), you'll be a lot better off than if you try to get repairs on what is typically a loophole-filled contract.
I would decline it.
Tell the dealer to shove it. They'll just find a way to tell you what went wrong isn't covered anyway.
those prices are very negotiable, i kept turning them down, but then they got down to $1500 for a 10 year warranty and i took it
(its really only 7 years since the manufacturers warranty is for the first 3)
