Ok I have a 2021 Chevy Malibu. It has an onstar system that I thought I unplugged to keep it from giving my coordinates but the kill switch was engaged. Is there anyway I can bypass this? I just need time to make my payments. Single mom of of 6 needs help.
Did you buy this from a buy here/pay here lot? Most dealers will install a GPS Killswitch that allows them to disable the vehicle if payments fall behind.
Disconnecting it is illegal and can land you with criminal charges. Since the devices send the signal to start the car, you also will not be able to start the vehicle with it unplugged.
A 2021 model at a BHPH? Guess it's possible, maybe a salvage vehicle one of those bottom feeders got hold of.
Yeah I know they usually have old clunkers, but lately I've seen a lot of newer rebuilt titles on these shady lots around town.
There's no end to the kind of scams those guys will pull, and if that car was indeed bought at a BHPH lot I can just imagine the nightmare condition of the vehicle (they're bad enough from a "legit" dealer) and the usurious terms built into the sales contract.
In the near future a lot of late model flood vehicles from the northeast are no doubt going to find their way to those kind of used car lots. Caveat emptor!
Indeed sir. Indeed.
You had to qualify for a loan on that 2021 Chevy Malibu. Take my advice here. If some sort of temporary financial crisis occurred and you only need "a little more time" (like maybe 30 days), then contact the lender and explain your situation.
They may be willing to work with you.
The last thing you want to do is miss payments and disable their ability to track the vehicle's location.
They'll interpret that as a stolen car and you'll be turning a "financial embarrassment" into Grand Theft Auto.
