Highlander transmission clunk on re-acceleration

Hey Scotty,

I have a 2013 Toyota Highlander FWD 3.5L 6cyl DOHC and 5 speed automatic transmission with 176K miles. The vehicle runs great except when I decelerate from highway speed and then re-accelerate. After slowing in traffic to ~30-35 MPH upon initiating acceleration it will clunk or kick between 2nd to 3rd gear, almost like it is confused what gear to be in. It never happens from a dead stop progressing through the gears, only in the deceleration and reacceleration scenario.

I bought it in 2016 with 47K, it is my daily driver of 120miles/day mostly highway. Oil and filter changed every 10K and transmission fluid changed every 30K.

Thoughts on what it could be?

Potentially a u-joint going bad?

Could be something with one of the speed sensors. Sounds like a finicky spot. Wonder if it would show any codes?
