Hit a snag in getting second key

Hi Scotty.  I bought a 2010 Camry used without the second key thinking  it would be no problem.  I tried to make a key at my local hardware store. The problem is, there is wiring connected to the port that the worker needed to program the key.  If I disconnect the wiring and let them program through that port, do you think this will cause any electrical or digital problems. My last resort is to pay $500 to $700 to Toyota. 🤯 ...Trying to get this issue resolved. Thanks!!!

Have you considered going to a locksmith?

@kp I checked with a local established locksmith. They quoted me 60 for the key that they would need to order and 60 to install but they never called saying the key was in and wouldn't return my calls when I called for an update. I guess I will start asking around for other locksmith recommendations.
