Hi Scotty. Thank you for such an informative site and youtube channel. I wish I had seen your channel years ago.
I bought my 2022 Kia Niro hybrid new and get about 50mpg. I have 98,000 miles on it. I have been very happy with my Niro and have kept up with regular oil changes and maintenance as recommended by my mechanic. I drive mostly highway miles too. Recently I took my Kia to into a dealership service center because I heard a loud whirring noise. They tell me the transmission needs to be replaced and thankfully a new transmission is covered since still under warranty.
My question is once the Kia is repaired, should I get rid of it or keep it and change my mechanic instead?
Thanks,

Get rid of it as soon as it's fixed. Kia and Hyundai are known for these kinds of problems. If you want a hybrid get a Toyota and you'll be very happy in the long term.
It’s only a matter of time before that transmission goes again. So it’s your choice whether you want to drive it to the ground, or sell it while it still has value. For a well-built car like a Toyota, I’d have no problem driving it to the ground because I know it’d be a while before that happens. But for that thing, that transmission will go again real soon and the car will be worthless. Right now it’s still new so while the mileage is somewhat high, it hasn’t age depreciated much yet. And right after you fix it you can tell the next person it has a brand new transmission to sucker them into giving you more money for it. Jk don’t do that.
