Delayed acceleration

Hey scotty,

Why my Altima with 172,000 miles sometimes have delay acceleration  when coming to stop. When I press harder on the gas pedal, it revs so high on low acceleration. It goes away when I turn off and turn on the vehicle. It more frequent on hot summer days. The transmission oil never had metal shredds and it clean since than. Any guess?

You did not specify what year Altima. However at that mileage it would not be surprising for the transmission to be dying, especially if it is one of Nissan's Jatco CVTs.

Any guess?

Not much of a guess. You have one of those Jatco CVTs and it is likely shot.

Note*

If I don't shut off the vehicle when it starts to have delay acceleration, the transmission start to have whining noise and odd acceleration. It been like this since 2 years. Always had it changed on manufacturer spec.
