Looking at possibly buying appears to be a solid VG condition 2015 CRV EX-L 150k miles and 2.4 “Earth Dream” badge. Ram vin for recalls and it’s all good with no recalls outstanding. Read different articles stating not to buy a “Earth Badge” engine. I am fan and watch your videos on same. I feel confident on the 2.4 engine but at this point I’m skeptical of “earth dream”part . Should I be? Or do you recommend the 2.4 Earth Dream.
The K24 series engine is one of Honda’s most resilient. With that said the K24W (Earth Dreams), although it is a K-Series, has some modifications to it, the biggest difference is direct injection instead of port/multipoint injection, and Atkinson cycle engines instead of the Otto cycle.
I actually think the Atkinson cycle is a plus, in terms of longevity, it makes it easier for the engine to “breath”. That’s just my non-mechanic opinion, and I could be wrong.
But I am concerned with the direct injection. TMK, Honda hasn’t had too many problems with direct injection, but you may want to investigate further with the K24W engine.
