Hello Scotty and everyone!
I am currently looking for a used Honda accord and based on my research online, I am leaning towards a used 2018 or newer 2.0t 4cyl with 10 speed transmission. I think the engine is much more reliable than the 1.5t ones. However the 2.0t offers lower gas mileage, which is ok. Is my understanding correct?
Also, in the current market with crazy used car prices, what do you think about a 2019 Honda accord touring with 18k miles for $31.5k (before taxes and fees). I will still try to negotiate but wanted to hear your opinion if this is a decent purchase price.
Thanks!
The 2 liter engine is a better choice for long term. About the price, you almost pay the brand new Accord. Why not getting a new one?
I was going to say exactly what @yaser said above. In this market with the very high used car prices it makes more sense to pay a bit more and buy new. And do you have to have a Touring trim? Get a lower trim and it'll cost even less than this used one you are considering. One more thing is the new body style of the Accord is coming for the 2023 model year so if that matters to you you might want to wait for it.
Just find a dealership willing to sell to you at msrp and put down a deposit on an incoming unit and wait for it to come. The key to buying at msrp in this market is being able to and willing to wait.
Definitely 2.0L NA engine is the best choice for longevity, but if for whatever reason you wanted the 1.5L then definitely Honda turbocharged over any other manufacturer.
