Scotty I have a 2006 Honda Accord with 160,000 miles on it. When I start it up in the morning it knocks but only when it’s in gear, and after it warms up it doesn’t knock anymore. Is this a problem? Also it burns a quart of oil every 3,000 miles. I change it about every 3,000 miles with the correct oil.

yeah knock isn't good for engines. I would get that looked at.

I would check if the piston/combustion chamber is carboned up. Shouldn't knock at all.

Sounds like a bad VTC solenoid if you have the 4 cylinder. It's a common problem and there are plenty of youtube videos on replacing it.

That is more of a loud clicking noise, unless that's what OP is talking about.
