I have a 2016 Accord EX-L with a V6. Starter went out just outside the warranty (38,000 miles). $700 to replace. Is this typical on these things? Should I expect the next one to go out at 76,000 miles?

Hard to say .. my started motor has lastest 150,000 km but it usually a weak battery and constant short trips that can cause wear on a starter.

Was the starter making a grinding sound or spinning freely as in not rotating the engine ?
There is a technical service bulletin in regards to a poor fit and the flywheel and flex plate needing adjustment.

If not...it just wore out normally.
$700 is nearly double what it should of cost in lower 48 of USA.
