howdy, I am inquiring for a very clean 2008 Honda Accord V6 with 80,000 miles.

I was reading that this may be a bad year for the accord.

is this a good car and will it last up to 300,000 if taken care of?

It seems to be that most of the engine issues occur because of shoddy piston rings> leading to potential misfires and oil consumption. Some complaining also due to excess brake wear. Any car can last if you throw enough money at it. In this case though I'd say it will be less than 300k miles. When it gets to a higher milage you can try for some more higher viscosity oil or live with putting in a quart every once in a while until kaput. Of course it should also be properly inspected and see what the car is after a compression test. It should give you a rough estimates for how long you can expect the car to last.

2008 was the year the Accord received the most complaints, the two I remember were about the transmission shifting weirdly as well as the seats being uncomfortable. Always pay a mechanic to inspect it before you buy. It should still have a lot of life left with only 80k, but if it’s an automatic you’d definitely want a mechanic to look for any trouble codes related to the transmission. If it’s a manual and the car was well taken care of it could probably last virtually forever.
