The automatic transmission issues found in the Hondas don’t seem to affect their Acura counterparts all that much. Is it because they program them differently, maybe different transmissions, idk.
Any thoughts?

They definetly do "affect their Acura counterparts"
In fact Acura probably has more issues than Honda with their transmissions because they make faster newer designs like Dual Clutch, 9 speeds, etc... and people beat vehicles like TSX to the ground
Its hard find a early 2000s Acura TL or MDX with the original transmission, or one in good shape
Honda+Acura 5 speed automatics have been in multiple lawsuits, the latest being in California.
