Do I leave reservoir cap off when bleeding brakes

Honda Civic 2003 EX. master cylinder install, when I Bleed do I need the cap of the master cylinder to be off?

No, unless you are using something like a Motive power bleeder which has a special cap for pressurization.

You should first bench-bleed the new master cylinder before installing it on the car, then bleed the system after installation. You may need a bidirectional scan tool to set the ABS for bleeding.

yes , because you need to keep adding fluid as you bleed the system. NEVER let the reservoir go dry or you're hooped.


If bleeding manually I just check it every few strokes of the brake pedal. At least on cars I've worked on the fluid tends to spray out a bit if the cap is left off.
