Hi Scotty

I have a Honda Civic hatchback (5 door),2013 model,1,8 Litre Executive 85000kms on the clock.Purchased new no problems until recently (Based in South Africa )Manual

The rear locking mechanism of the hatch door works intermittently, more especially on a cold day (0 degrees c)In the day it works perfectly but not first thing in the morning .Frustrating ..In your opinion what could be the problem ?Doesnt open either on key fob or on the door panel. All other doors open fine .

Many Thanks for your time

Jeff

Sounds like the latch mechanism is sticking in cold weather.

Try this (check your owner’s manual for the exact procedure in your car) -

Sounds like it’s a Honda thing -

Due to the temperature and intermittent nature it seems to have it sounds like you’ll be looking for a short circuit either in the lock actuator itself or the hatch harness would be most likely. Follow the harness and and check it especially around hinge points or where it may flex or move during hatch operation
