Hey there from Canada wondering if I should get an older civic with the naturally aspirated 2.0L or take the risk with the 1.5turbos in the new civics? Thanks!
An old Civic with a K-series 2.0L would be ideal, IMHO, assuming it checks out.
The 1.5L isn’t necessarily bad, but it is prone to oil dilution in certain conditions. Depending on your driving habits, this is a decent choice. Or a choice that will need a little more maintenance.
It is not recommended to purchase 2016-17 Civics due to oil dilution issues. I have a 2014 Honda Civic and is has 279,000 miles. I would research the best years and recalls before a purchase.
They still make 2.0L naturally aspired engines for the new Civics, and that would be the best choice. But if the one you want is a new model with 1.5L turbo even Scotty says it's okay:
