Why does my new car creak while reversing

Hello,

I recently bought a new 2021 Honda Civic Sport (currently has 2k miles) and whenever i reverse or shift it to drive, it begins to creak. its so embarrassing because its brand new! when i first drove it, it never did that. this only started and Honda Dealership said its normal. when i drive it after a while and try shift it from Drive and Reverse, it doesnt do it. If it does, its very quiet. Creaks when i start letting go of my brakes. I would post a video of the sound if anyone is willing to help. thanks!

Please leave the CAPS-LOCK off. Thanks.

It's completely normal and nothing to be embarrassed about.

Maybe you have some brake dust buildup, so you could try hitting the brakes with a wire brush and some brake cleaner. Or just try some high quality brake pads. But I wouldn't bother, and just ignore it. Happens all the time and not worth the effort.

Sigh.... is there any way to reduce the noise? coming from the brakes or something? Any lubrication?

never put any kind of lubrication on the braking surfaces.
You could try some brake grease on the back of the pad, the shims, and slides, but I doubt that it will do anything.
Maybe it'll go away by itself with some heavy hill or highway braking, or after a rain.

The Civic is Honda's lower model, so maybe the part tolerances just aren't great.

i will try that! Also, wanted to add something. My dumbass parked on my slight up hill driveway with no emergency park for a few days thats when it started. not only that but it seems that the creak is even louder when i reverse from uphill.

I don't think the way you parked has anything to do with the creaking.
But you may hear more groaning/grinding noise in the morning because light film of rust will form on the discs over night (again, completely normal on most vehicles). Is this your first car?

yes... this is my first car. I bought a Honda because i want this car to last me a long time. just getting my life started.

Lucky you.
You'll get used all the different noises cars make. 😉
Over time you'll learn which ones are normal, and which ones you should pay attention to.
Read through your owner's manual, and periodically inspect the vehicle yourself. Maybe change some oil and brakes. It's a great way to learn how everything works and you won't be as lost if anything should ever go wrong.

Thank you very much for the help. Hey, i will be posting a video tonight. not sure if you wanna take a look at it if you ever come back to this thread. im sure youre much more experienced than me. i wanted to go to a mechanic but i dont wanna get scammed 🙁

Sure. Post the link.
Eventually you will need a mechanic anyway, so it's not a bad idea to start talking to some on the phone and get a general impression.

okay! awesome! Sure thing. and Also, do you recall the ATP 205 Reseal Scott recommended? theyre none in stock anymore! got anything equivalent to that? got a squeak coming from my top strut. was gonna use it for that.

your car is brand new so it shouldn't squeak yet. Make sure all the bolts are tightened down properly. Silicone spray might work too.

yeah its brand new but it started somehow lol. took it to honda they "fixed it" by tightening something and never really fixed it. i will try to silicon spary WD40 silicion spray. I will post the link later today. Thanks for the help.

You could drive into a dealership with oil squirting onto your windshield and they'd tell you "It's Normal!"

sadly true
