Hi Scotty, I drive a 2002 Honda Civic Ex 1.7 L SOHC VTEC with a FWD Automatic transmission that is nearly 30,000 miles and I got that car that had 26,000 miles. I planned to do a transmission fluid change. Is it fine?

Yes, it should be fine.

All of the talking about changing it too late, is on cars without a dipstick or extreme 200,000 mile no oil change cases.

use your dipstick to see if your fluid is burned / has water in it - and if so you know you have an issue.

generally you should change it.

Did you mean 300000? How is is shifting? What is the condition of the fluid? You can always change it but as a safety measure safe the old fluid incase a problem begins.

When it start to shift, I can feel like a bump like someone is pushing you back but not hard and I never seen the fluid before and it’s the first time this vehicle has a transmission fluid change.

And no 30,000 miles.

You should have no problem changing it.
