Hi Scotty I have recently bought a Honda Civic type R 21 and I have had a second gear grind issue only when shifting into that gear and after checking issue out on other forums I found that other owners have the same issue I love the car but I’m not sure what I should do about this the car only has 2,000 miles and it’s happens 3 or 4 times already I also always make sure clutch is fully pressed in when shifting issue any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you for for what you do from a fellow Texan

Sounds like the syncros are going out.  This happens a lot when prople like to rest their hand on the shift lever all the time.  It puts pressure on the the bronze shift fork pads and wears out the syncros prematurely.

In a brand new car I do rest my hand on the shift knob no doubt but the issues seems to be a noted problem from a good amount of type r owners I suppose I’ll setup a camera and get a recording to prove to the dealer but not sure what they could do I’ve heard of people upgrading shifter and putting In gm syncromesh fluid in trans and the problem happens much less but was going to wait till first fluid change to do so

You didn't say before that the car was new.  Warranty??  Please only put your hand on the shift lever when you are going to shift.  Your transmission will thank you.

Unfortunately this is an issue on many Type R’s.  Even one of these car magazines reviewing it noticed the issue.  I am not aware what the fix is, and it appears this issue has been unresolved for years now on the Type R’s.
