Genesis vs Lexus dependability

According to JD Power, Genesis was the most dependable luxury car brand with Lexus coming in at 2nd place for 2020. Would you say that Scotty Kilmer would disagree with this and say that it’s wrong?

lol JD Power has many issues. First of all, the sample size of vehicles is tiny. Also, they do two types of reliability surveys, the first 90 days, or the first 36 months. Maybe Genesis is the most reliable vehicle for the first 90 days. Scotty sees long term. Even Consumer Reports is more accurate than JD Power.  Definitely Scotty would disagree. Sure Genesis vehicles aren't piles of junk like a Chrysler product but there life is around 100k miles. JD Power doesn't account for long term reliability. A member @mod_man once said he worked at GM and JD was promoting their vehicles are best of class etc.

If you want to learn about car reliability, go to the FAQ, "I need to buy a Vehicle." This will take you to the used car buying guide where you can find lots of information on car reliability, whether it be Scotty videos lists, cars to avoid, most reliable cars, common problems, third party sites, etc. There are lots of links, not one of them is from JD Power.

JD Power never had credibility. They have even less now.

They just give their vote to the highest bidder.

lol I remember you saying JD Power promoted GM vehicles I think GM paid them? The sad thing is the reliability estimates for initial quality are for 90 days. How automakers have to "vote to get the highest bid" for 90 day quality is just ---

Yep. It is a broken system.

I'd say Lexus because they are very reputable for long lasting cars. I've seen lot of old lexuses that ran like a charm. Genesis is kinda an unheard-of brand.
