Should I buy a CR-V

Since the Honda CR-V now has the 1.5 liter 4 cyl as its only engine, would you not recommend it anymore cuz of the oil dilution issue? If the next generation CR-V comes out with the same engine, will you no longer recommend it?

honda is selling a lot of RAV4s by offering the CRV in 1.5/CVT

The oil dilution issue has been resolved using the new GF oil and change the oil religiously. I don't think Honda ever goes back to the older engines because of EPA restriction on the gas mileage. I would personally like the NA engines better and try to avoid other engines as much as possible.

Jury is out on the long term reliability of that engine and if the oil dilution is truly behind us.  Overall, it’s not a vehicle I would personally get if I was in the market for a smaller CUV in light of that, but one can certainly do worse too.  To be honest, there aren’t many current Honda offerings I can readily recommend, especially when you have Toyota and Mazda present.

I don’t know what’s really going on, … not that frequently one sees a flat deck picking up a stranded car/SUV from the side of the road. Testament that latest generation of cars/SUVs - overall - are probably most reliable yet!

Anyway, … pretty well every time I saw a car being towed previously, it was a new and/or rear-new Range Rover or some 22 year or so old, rusted out clunker, … but these latter days, I, without intention, noticed that new and newer CRVs being winched up! Not many, mind you - just couple or three, but few enough that my mind picked it up! Just sayin’, …

F.S.
