I recently purchased a 2006 Honda CRV automatic 2WD with 170,000 miles. It makes a squealing sound when placed in park. When I shift to drive the noise goes away. Everytime I shift back to park the noise comes back.
Any suggestions? I would really like to fix this problem myself.

My guess is your transmission may be going out or you may need to put some Lucas oil inside the transmission hope that helps thanks.

I agree with @Toyotafan101.
It is related to your transmission. Check it out with a real good mechanic and baby that car since you do not want to spend a fortune to rebuild the transmission.
