Honda Passport

Hey Scotty,

My fiance and I are looking for a midsize SUV that has decent towing capability. What are your thoughts on the Honda Passport? It has a max towing limit of 5,000 lbs.

Thanks,

Nate

Clarification: How much weight do you actually need to tow, and how often will you be towing?

It can be a decent truck but Honda is not the best for bigger cars. I would stick to Toyota for that. Have you considered Highlander?

A Passport is basically a slimmed down Pilot. And also shares the same platform as the Ridgeline Truck.

The Honda Pilot competes with the Toyota Highlander. The Passport doesn’t really have a direct competitor with Toyota.

I have direct experience with the previous generation Pilot, and that thing was built strong. Not that I did any towing with it, but I am impressed with the build, the power. While the Passport is a generation later, they both come from a resilient engine family, IF you turn off VCM. VCM messes engines up, and it is highly recommended to turn it off.
