In my opinion the specific year and vehicle itself is more important than the brands overall quality for example a new Civic is made a lot better than a 2006 Civic for example, but you might not be able to say the same for a 1999 or 2011. The engine and transmission are also factors. I think that with both Toyota and Honda the quality started to decline in the lates 2000s early 2010s, with the 2012 Civic and 2007 CR-V and 2008 Accord, many problems were introduced because of the somewhat lower quality, but they fixed it in later years so not really that major.

Really, everyones quality has been in decline. As the old saying goes, they don't make them like they used to. Having said that, Honda still makes very good cars and I would still buy one.

Every automaker has their issues.  Modern cars have more complex engine technology, more computer modules, prevalence of driver safety assist systems, infotainment systems, and is essentially a computer on wheels more or less, thanks to regulations and ever more stringent CAFE and emissions standards.  Plus the consumer expects more out of their vehicles at an affordable price.  If you grade on a curve relative to each other, while everyone has taken some hit to overall reliability and durability, you’ll still find Toyota and Honda (and Mazda and Subaru in recent years) in the top tier.

We’ll see how the joint partnership between GM and Honda to develop EVs (for Honda) will impact them. Maybe not such a wise move, time will tell.

Honda #3

that's hilarious. On average more cars are recalled than sold.

Honda is #4

second worst at initiating recalls

Numbers are probably still being tabulated, but it'll be close to 2M US Hondas recalled in 2020

All I know is my 2020 Accord 2.0T Sport has been great so far. Almost 9k and I drive A LOT.

I've owned 3 2018 Fords. None of them made it this far without a dealer trip.

In my opinion since mid 2000s. First off I will absolutely stay away from any vehicle with a CVT trans unless I am forced to buy one. I’ve also heard they’ve had some issues with their turbo models and they are using a lot more plastic parts than they used to.

I have been a Chrysler fan for most of my life. Honda never had a drop in quality in my opinion.
