Has Honda's reliability been getting worse recently?  Are the new Civics still reliable?  Looking for a 2020 Honda Civic Sport with the 2.0 NA 4-cylinder and the manual transmission.

Overall yes, most manufacturers (with the significant exceptions of Mazda and Subaru) have been getting worse in reliability in the last 10-15 years (probably because of the priorities of car buyers, they would pick a car because of its 2mpg better or infotainment system rather than its quality or function), though Toyota and Honda still top.Honda slipped a bit more than Toyota. I mean GDI Turbocharged 1.5 engine in a midsize Accord with either a CVT or 10 speed automatic doesn't seem like reliability was a top priority. The one you are considering is one of the best in terms of long term projected reliability.

That’s probably projected to be the most reliable Honda you can get. Non turbo. Naturally aspirated. Manual transmission. Nice.

The 10th generation Civic has been out since MY2016 up until MY2021.  The one you are looking at (MY2020) is near the end of that generation which is good as bugs/issues will have been ironed out by then, and Honda is usually good about fixing issues (which are more prevalent earlier in a generation).  On top of that, you are looking at a NA engine (not really experiencing oil dilution) with a manual - which is rare these days and makes the best combo for reliability.

Honda Is a great choice because of their reliability and performance. I believe the model your referring to is the Civic Type R which is completely designed for performance. Honda is a very reliable company and will last forever if you keep up with the maintenance. I have seen some of the old Honda models go half a million miles. Honda has a great reputation for reliability and performance but at the end of the day the choice is yours. I would suggest going to Honda's website and requesting a brochure on the model your interested in. Good luck with everything!

He is talking about the regular Honda Civic, but the trim level is Sport which is between the LX and EX.
