2000 Honda Accord/ 108K mi /Automatic. This is the 1st time this has happened. Got back in my car after shopping for half hour and car started right up but as soon as I tried to put it in reverse to back out of the parking space it died. I tried this 4 or 5 times. Same response. After waiting 40 min for a tow truck the guy jumped in my car it started right up [again] and he was able to put it in reverse w/o it stalling. I was able to drive car home after all. Have started it up a few times in my driveway and there seems to be no problem w/it dying when reversing the gear. Based on these clues can you tell me what my potential problem will be? [as it has not happened since] but I hesitate to take it out again and needing a possible tow.
Thank you.
Oh by the way the above Honda has a v.6 realtek engine. Couldn't find the edit button.
well if it goes forward but not reverse that would mean your transmission is starting to go out in reverse gear which is the first gear that generally breaks down and it would cost a fortune to rebuild that transmission
