I have a Pontiac firebird V8 1989 formula and I wanted to make the hood scoop work because it’s nonfunctional, what would be the best option to go with
If you have what's called a power bulge hood there was a functional scoop for them. I would not do anything unless you can find one of the mechanisms and make it work. They open at full throttle by a solenoid. See if you have the electrical connection on the throttle body first. If your car was not equipped, it's probably not worth the trouble. I would not recommend just removing the plastic cover and replacing it with a screen. Unforeseen problems will be likely and you'll end up putting it back to how it is now. Good luck.
